Lost Petals – photohaiku for the brokenhearted – Daciana Lipai – Book Cover Reveal

On

Lost Petals – photohaiku for the brokenhearted is the title of the book I will be launching very soon, this December.

The book depicts conceptual Photohaiku – a beautiful combination of haiku form poetry combined with black and white mountain landscape photographs.

In 2003 I first combined my poems with my photographs in an exhibition. Since then, I’ve experimented with different styles, forms, and visions. This time, I’ve captured black and white images from my window, when I was in quarantine, with a telephoto lens, and I combined it with poems in Haiku form poetry, defining it as Photohaiku.

Because I started the project as a lockdown journal in March 2020, the first part of the project has a feel of isolation, sadness, and brokenness. I wanted my book to be hopeful, and to bring a small light into this world.
My first concern was, how can I give meaning to all the loss, grief and fear, during the past years. So in the second part, I tried to add a sense of hope and encouragement, a sense of reconnecting and belonging, a sense of resilience, in this unfolding mad world.

This project got put on hold for about two years and I was doubtful that it would ever be released. This would be the third time planning the launch of the book. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this month I started working on my photohaiku project again.
I decided at the last minute that I want to publish this book this December, but this time I took another approach to launch, and I am so curious how it will go.

❤
I decided that spring needs to come earlier this time, at least in our hearts.

Feel free to share this with your friend, or with anyone who can use a nice word, someone who lost someone or deals with grief or sadness. Leave a comment or drop me a line. I would love to hear from you ❤
